Charlie Kirk and Christian Activism
Charlie Kirk
He has been called many names like Nazi, fascist, racist, tyrant, etc. If you listen to what Charlie Kirk says, he was none of those things. He is not an activist. He is an apologist and evangelist. He is simply one who defends the faith and he was a genius at doing it. He is not an apologist just for freedom and truth (divine establishment truth); he is an apologist for Christianity; he defends Christianity. And the platform he uses is politics and current events and race relations and he presents them in the context of freedom and divine establishment.
Since his assassination, his effect has been an outreach for Jesus Christ. He always says that he wanted to be remembered for his faith in Jesus Christ. And anytime he speaks, he always brings Jesus Christ into the picture. He has said many times that the solution to our problems in this country is the spiritual solution. He simply wants to present to people a logical viewpoint, which is the apologist approach, to the things going on in this country which is faith alone in Christ alone and Christian principles, the spiritual solution. And that is very much needed in the USA today. And he did all that through dialogue using logical arguments. That is what an apologist does.
Now compare that to the Christian activism in America today. There is a stark difference.
Acts 17:16-21 This is the story of the Apostle Paul who is now in Athens on one of his journeys and he observed some stone idols of Greek gods and it stirred him up. So he went where the people were assembled in the Areopagus on Mars Hill and he spoke to the philosophers, and to the stoics, and to others who knew nothing about Jesus Christ, he used their own thoughts and position to present Jesus Christ. That is what an apologist does. Paul presented Jesus Christ in distinction to those stone idols. But he approached them from their own perspective. Some rejected him, in fact, they got him out of Athens. But others heard him and believed the truth and followed him.
Charlie Kirk is similar in that he was a great evangelist. And now the gospel is being presented on a mass basis. His outreach now is not only national, but his message is international going forth all over the world. He gave Christian principles by which people can make good decisions in this life.
We must never fail to pursue the spiritual life so that we fulfill the Plan of God in time and produce the divine good that we must produce for blessing in time and escrow blessing in heaven.
Christian Activism
Christian activism is the use of illegal or Biblically unauthorized methods e.g. demonstrating, protesting in the streets, or rioting. Those are illegal or Biblically unsanctioned methods. Christian activism seeks to physically impose, sometimes by force, either real or alleged Christian ideals upon the citizens of this nation, totally disregarding volition and human freedom. Christian activism is so zealous for the cause that it seeks to drive people into that cause, forcing people to acquiesce to that cause, with not real options. It is the idea that “I don’t care about the way you think, I am going to force you into my way of thinking and operating.”
The Christian activist exchanges the spiritual impact that an advancing or mature believer has for the goal of correcting societal depravity through political rather than spiritual means. The activism of a believer in Jesus Christ should be his or her spiritual life. That is the most powerful activism there is. Christian activism fails to focus on the things of heaven but focuses instead only on earthly things. Philippians 3:19 says that such believers set their minds on earthly things and as such, they are enemies of the cross. Charlie Kirk was just the opposite.
